VERY REV. FR. ROBERT CHARLES SNYPER
Fr. Robert Charles Snyper was born on the 18th of August 1964 at Assorku Essaman.
He began his elementary education at Catholic Jubilee School – Cape Coast and then continued at St. Joseph’s Boys School – Elmina and Catholic (mixed) School – Agona Kwanyako.
For his secondary education, he entered St. Teresa’s Minor Seminary, Amisano from 1980-1985 for G.C.E O’Level and continued with his G.C.E A’Level education from 1985-1987. He served the school as Senior Prefect from 1985-1987.
He entered St. Paul’s Catholic Seminary – Accra for Spiritual formation and Philosophical studies from 1988-1990. He then moved to St. Peter’s Regional Seminary – Cape Coast for his Theological studies from 1990-1994. In his final year, he served as Vice S R C President.
Fr. Robert Charles Snyper holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in the study of Religions and Sociology from the University of Ghana – Legon.
He was ordained on the 12th of November 1994 by Most Rev. Peter K. Appiah Turkson at Cape Coast.
He then served as Parochial Vicar at St. Mark’s Parish at Awutu Bereku from 1994 -1997.
He was sent to Rottenbürg-Stuttgart Diocese of Germany from 1997-2003.
He began his further studies at the University of Tübingen in Germany from the 9th of October 1998 to the 17th of October 2003.
While in Germany, he served as Parochial Vicar at the following places:
Poltringen, Entringen, Altingen (Rottenbürg Deanery) 1998
Justingen, Hausen, Ingstetten (Schelklingen Deanery) 1999
Heimerdingen, Hirschlanden (Ludwisburg Deanery) 2000
Asperg, Tamm und Markröningen (Ludwisburg Deanery) 2001
Böblingen St. Maria and Böblingen Ditzenhalde (Böblingen Deanery) 2001-2002
From 2002-2003, he was made Associate Pastor at Heilig Kreuz – Sommerein (Stuttgart-Bad Cannstadt Deanery).
He was awarded Doctor of Theology (Doktor der Theologie) degree at the University of Tübingen in 2003.
He then came down to Ghana and served as part time Lecturer of Systematic Theology at St. Peter’s Seminary, Pedu October 2003-December 2003.
He was appointed associate Pastor of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church – Pedu from October 2003 - December 2003.
He was appointed a full time lecturer of Systematic Theology at St. Peter’s Regional Seminary in January 2004, till date.
In 2005-2009, he was appointed a member of the interreligious Dialogue and Ecumenism commission of the Episcopal Conferences of Anglophone West Africa (AECAWA-IRDEC).
From 2003 till date, he has been a part time lecturer at the Holy Child Religious Congregation’s Pre-novitiate in Cape Coast.
In 2004, he was appointed a member of the editorial board of the Catholic Voice Magazine and has contributed articles to this magazine and also edited some literature of some writers of sacred theology.
He is the author of the book, Akan Rites of Passage and their Reception into Christianity: A Theological synthesis. Frankfurt am Main 2002.
In 28th October 2010, he was appointed, the Vice Rector of St. Peter’s Regional Seminary. On February 2014, he was appointed the Acting Rector of St. Peter’s Regional Seminary – Pedu, Cape Coast and confirmed as the Rector on 29th January 2017. He is a member of the Priests’ Council and the College of Consulters of the Archdiocese of Cape Coast.
