Fr. John Kennedy Mensah was born on the 27 September 1966. He began his Seminary  formation at St. Teresa´s Minor Seminary, Amisano, Elmina, from October 1983 to June 1990 for his O’ and A’ Levels. He then proceeded to the St. Paul’s Catholic Seminary, Sowutuom, from September 1990 to June 1993. He then gained admission to St Peter’s Regional Seminary from September 1993 to June 1995, where he received Bachelor of Arts, First Class Honours.

From August 1995 to December 2000, Fr. Kennedy studied at the University of Innsbruck, Austria, resident in the Collegium Canisianum, Innsbruck. In July 2000, he earned his Master in Theology (Old Testament). In November 2000, he earned another degree, Master of Philosophy (Metaphysics).

On 25 March 2000, Fr Mensah was ordained Deacon in the Jesuit Church, Innsbruck, (Austria) by Most Rev. Alois Kothgasser. He was ordained a priest for the Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi, on 13 October 2001 by Most Rev. John Martin Darko, at Effiakuma in Takoradi.

From September 2004 to December 2006, he was the Parochial Vicar, St. Anthony of Padua Church, Kwesimintsim, Takoradi, as well as the Diocesan Youth Chaplain.

He proceeded again to the University of Innsbruck, Austria, for further studies from January 2007 to May 2011, where he was awarded Doctor of Theology (Old Testament).From July 2011 to September 2011, he was the Parochial Vicar of Sts. Peter and Paul Parish, Spaichingen, (Diocese of Rottenburg  Stuttgart).

From October 2011 till his appointment to the Seminary, he was the Parochial Vicar of St. Bonifatius Parish, Bad Wildbad (Diocese of Rottenburg–Stuttgart). From October 2011 to October 2012, he had an Observational year in St. Bonifatius Church, Bad Wildbad, Germany. Fr. Kennedy studied again at the Institut zur Förderung publizistischen Nachwuchs  (Journalistischen Schule), München, Journalistic Studies from October 2014. Until his appointment to the St Peter’s Regional Seminary as a Formator, Fr was at the Kollegium Wilhelmschule, Bad Wildbad.

In the Seminary, Fr lectures in Sacred Scripture, specifically Old Testament. He is the Priest in charge of Sports in the Seminary.
