FR. CORNELIUS CHRYSOSTOM DERY

Fr. Cornelius Dery was ordained on July 30, 2005 for the Roman Catholic Diocese of Sekondi-Takoradi. After his ordination he worked for one year at the St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Kwesimintsim, Takoradi and taught for four years at St. Teresa Minor Seminary, Amisano, Elmina.
He holds Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and the Study of Religions from the University of Ghana and Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
He studied at the Pontifical Urban University, Rome, Italy, where he obtained his Licentiate in Theology, majoring in Moral Theology in 2013. He also holds a Masters degree in Medical Humanities, Compassionate Care and Bioethics from Stony Brook University (Stony Brook Medicine), Stony Brook, New York. He completed two units of Clinical Pastoral Education from the Queens Medical Center, Jamaica, New York in 2014. While in New York, he was involved with hospital chaplaincy and patient care from 2013– 2015.
Fr. Cornelius has special interest in studying how theology and modern science can impact and transform traditional Ghanaian culture. He is the Priest in charge of Health in the Seminary.
