Fr. James Donkor Afoakwah was born on 20th June 1967 he begun responding to the call to the priesthood by entering St. Teresa’s Minor Seminary, Amisano in the year  1982.  He proceeded on to St Paul’s Major Seminary, Accra and St Peter’s Regional Seminary, Pedu for studies in Philosophy and Theology respectively.

He obtained a Bachelor of Arts, Study of Religions & Sociology (First Class Honours) from the University of Legon in the year 1994.

On October 26, 1996, he was ordained for the Archdiocess of Cape Coast and served as Parochial Vicar of St. Theresa’s Parish, Diaso and St. Stephen’s Parish, Abura Dunkwa from  1996 to 2001.

From 1998-1999, he studied for Diploma, Practical Book Keeping  and Accounts at the Cambridge Tutorial College, Leoville.


From 2001-2005, he studied for and obtained a Licentiate in Biblical Sciences from Pontifical Biblical Institute, Rome.


The period from 2006-2013, he was Parochial Vicar and from 2013-2016, he was the Administator of Beato Carlo Steeb Parish, Reutlingen & San Bruno Parish, Metzingen, Germany.


From 2007- 2014, he studied for a Doctorate in Catholic Theological Faculty (Old Testament) at Eberhard-Karls Universität, Tübingen


Reading & Sports (Volleyball) are the hobbies that occupy his leisure.

In the theologicum, he lectures in Scripture (Old Testament), Biblical Hebrew and Greek Morphology. 

He is currently the Dean of Students.
